My computer shut down twice in the last two weeks, once with a frightening little boom and the odor of electrical fire. It turns out I needed only to replace the power unit, but the trauma forced me to call a tech. It also gave me a headache. The second event made it impossible to boot beyond the second black screen, no matter what I did.
