A broker I’ll dub “Matt” has a problem.
He mentioned that his buyers are a couple, half of whom is on maternity leave. They have gone through the usual search, found a co-op they love on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and asked Matt to make an offer.

The two-bedroom apartment that a couple is eager to purchase has a tony kitchen in addition to its other attractive pluses.
The problem is this: They haven’t spoken to a lender and they haven’t completed a standard financial statement. The other day, the pregnant buyer said she and the lender have been unable to connect for a week and a half. Right. Maybe because she never calls him back.
