At Tuesday’s estate auction by King’s County Public Administrator Bruce Stein, the last was first in terms on the amount of its winning bid — $1.45 million, 62 percent above the minimum opening bid.

The object of spirited bidding by some half dozen hopefuls, the property at 51 Havermeyer St. was the last of 10 houses on the block.  Its minimum was $890,000.

The winner was a man who identified himself merely as “Lok,” declining to elaborate.  He was one of the bidders who variously offered several times the auctioneer’s $10,000 increments in an attempt to pre-empt additional bids.

When the hammer went down, the remaining audience broke into applause.

He won a brick rowhouse that has three stories and a capacity of three families in its 3,525 square of living area.  It is in the estate of one John Krantz.

Although two of the houses went unsold — 50 Tapscott St. (pictured at the top), for the second time running, and 1509 East 94th St. — the auction was a modest success.

Winnng bids totaled $4.435 million versus the $4.119 million sum of the minimum opening bids.
