Travel continues to infiltrate my blog about Cambodia

Written years ago, the focus of my blog as expressed at the top continues to be true: “Reflections on Living in Another World.”

Although you may have noted a sprinkling of posts that are more about my travel experiences than my perspectives on Cambodia, especially Phnom Penh, rest assured that I don’t see this blog as merely or mostly a travel blog.

Yet it occurs to me as I write that maybe you’d prefer more travel and less of my observations about the country where I have made my home since the end of 2013.  If so, you’ll be particularly pleased over the next several weeks.  Indeed, I may find it hard to avoid commenting on aspects of the wider world as I spend increasing amounts of time outside Cambodia in satisfaction of the travel bug that afflicts me.  Nor will I abandon trips worth describing when I make my way around the country.

That said, I am unable to Continue reading

What happens on the Internet, stays on the Internet

After I publish a post, I entertain myself by checking to see how many views my blog is getting. Usually, I am disappointed by the number while striving to remain philosophical that I write mostly to please myself.

A nice feature of WordPress, the platform I began using in 2009, is the statistics I see and the surprises they offer.

For one thing, I am continually surprised by two sets of numbers: One is how individuals from the all over the world seem to find my blog and the second is how old are some of the posts they discover.

Nearly two years after having moved to Cambodia from Manhattan and retired from selling and writing about real estate originally in the Washington, D.C. area and then New York, I am amazed Continue reading

2011 blog statistics in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 59,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 22 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

There’s no need to fret waiting for new post

When you’ve already read my latest post and the hours seems to drag, you don’t have to wait for a real estate fix from me.

Thank goodness!

Not only can you stay current with other of my sources, but you’ll find a variety of information elsewhere that may never appear here.

For example, you may want to consider following me on Twitter or checking out my Facebook page, each of which provides a wide spectrum of real estate news focused on New York City.

And if you’re especially interested in news affecting just the Upper West Side, have a look at Facebook; there’s my continuously updated site about the UWS too.

Like many of my readers, you may be thinking about selling or buying property.  If you’re a buyer, you can search the listings of virtually all brokers here.  If you’re seller, you’ll be able to check the competition there as well.

I hope you’ll be keeping in touch.

Tomorrow: Trust for a price (holidays hiatus starts Monday)

With Labor Day approaching, let’s wake up

With summer coming to a close, I’m stirring with new energy and new blog posts

Starting next week, I’ll return to my regular schedule of daily posting.

My next “Out and About” will appear on Tuesday, then on the following Mondays or Tuesdays, depending on various factors: Late news; an irresistible urge to fulminate, bloviate or elaborate; or time constraints.

And on Fridays, I’ll continue to provide the most pertinent links related to the Big Apple, U.S. real estate, celebrity sales and purchases, household tips, experts’ forecasts and a variety of other topics.

Now and thereafter, you’ll find both more timely and additional items by following me on Twitter (below) or checking my Facebook page.  This site, Twitter and Facebook contain a collection of different information.

I’ll continue to write about a range of subjects for buyers, sellers and everyone else with an interest in New York real estate.  Topics cover the waterfront — from mortgage news to broker ethics.

I look forward to “seeing” you then and publishing your comments.

Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
